At the LONGINES CHI CLASSIC BASEL, today’s World Cup dressage freestyle produced top-class sport and landmark results. Isabell Werth took the win with Wendy de Fontaine. Following an extended break in the autumn, the exceptional German rider secured her first World Cup points of the current season.
In second place, Charlotta Rogerson impressed with Bonheur de la Vie. Just yesterday, she had set a personal best in the Grand Prix – scoring more points than ever before at international level, and doing so with a horse that had never previously competed in a World Cup event. In today’s freestyle, Rogerson once again significantly surpassed this performance with 81.290%: she performed this freestyle for the very first time and achieved the highest score ever recorded by a Swiss rider in a World Cup freestyle. “It’s something very special to be second behind Isabell – and now to be sitting next to her is simply incredible. I have to pinch myself”, said the Swiss rider. Commenting on the competition, she added: “The audience here and the organisation are exceptional – as far as I’m concerned, it couldn’t be better.”
Third place went to Raphael Netz on DSP Dieudonné. With his performance in Basel, he further extended his lead in the Dressage World Cup and underlined his strong form this season.
