Barbara Schnieper won Friday’s 145-centimetre speed jumping class at the LONGINES CHI CLASSIC BASEL. The rider from Solothurn made her mark as the fifth rider to start: riding the experienced Swiss mare Judy KM, she produced a clear round and clocked a time of 61.78 seconds. None of the approximately 50 riders who followed were able to beat this time. “I made up the time between jumps 3 and 4. Judy was almost a bit too quick on that turn,” said Barbara Schnieper with a laugh. “I’m delighted to be able to celebrate this first victory here in front of a home crowd.”

Second place went to France’s Marc Dilasser on Chamann Has, who finished 1.19 seconds behind the winning time. Third place went to Japan’s Eiken Sato on Milva in 63.17 seconds.

The other Swiss placings were as follows: Niklaus Rutschi on Amar des Brimbelles Z came sixth (64.10), Martin Fuchs on Love de Vie came seventh (64.20) and Dominik Fuhrer on Goodluck de la Bauche came eighth (64.87).
